It's the first mosaic I have ever made and it turned out wonderfully! I used all upcycled plates as my tiles. Has Ebay Gone Too Far?

I decided that I wanted to sell my AT&T Tilt on Ebay in order to buy an Iphone. Of course, I decided the best place to sell it was Ebay. I listed my Tilt and sure enough it sold. However, to my surprise Ebay shocked me with a new policy.

Ebay and Paypal, have this new policy that if a seller doesn’t fit a certain set of criteria they will freeze your earnings in your Paypal account. What is so frustrating about it is that the seller has no control over meeting the criteria. I have always been a good Ebay seller. I have a rating of 64 and have never had a complaint. But yet, now I’m being treated like a criminal. The criterion Ebay has decided on is the following:

If you do not have more than 100 feedbacks and you are selling an item over $100 they will freeze your money in Paypal and force you to ship off the item without ever receiving a dime! They don’t even give you access to the cost of shipping.

The policy states they can hold your money up to 21 days! Am I the only one that thinks this is crazy? Their reasons for this new policy is allegedly protecting buyers from scammers. However, this makes no sense to me. Paypal has access to your bank accounts and/or credit cards. How is freezing the money in your account going to make it any safer for buyers? Buyers have always had the ability to get their money back and report any scams. Isn’t this a job for the legal system and not freezing the funds of innocent sellers?

As I was researching how others felt about this new policy I found a very interesting article. Apparently, Ebay is running a test campaign for all Australian buyers that the only payment accepted is from Paypal. US citizens beware this policy will probably be showing up for you too soon enough.

So now if you thought you could avoid having your funds frozen in Paypal, avoiding Paypal’s horrible customer service, or paying Paypal’s exorbitant fees you were wrong! Now Ebay has agreed to give Paypal a complete monopoly over all their transactions. Unfair competition anyone? All of these changes have pushed me over the edge. I have always been unhappy with Ebay, but it was never enough to drive me away from occasionally selling products. I’ve had it and will not continue to give Ebay my support or my money. Ebay, if you are listening you have lost a great deal of respect with these new policies.

It's been awhile since I introducted Wei. Now its time to introduce another Owl member, so I decided to feature Suenosdejmi. When I think of the owls I automatically thing of Suenosdejmi. Her amazing scarves would go great w/ some of my handmade beaded jewelry. Plus, she is one of the hardest working Owls. She organizes most of our events, challenges, and everything else Owl related. She also updates the Owl blog. She has a big job when it comes to the Owls and is very good at it!!!

Suenosdejmi has a really fun and exciting shop. She makes these amazing scarves! I recently had her custom make a scarf for me. I requested a specific color and length, and she did not disapoint, Suenosdejmi's workmanship is very high quality! Here is the picture of my comfty scarf!!!!

Suenosdejmi also (sometimes) makes these little ADORABLE animals or other critters. I seriously love this one that she sold a long time ago (yes I like to browse people's sold items hahaha), I found this adorable piggy that she made....TOOO FREAKIN CUTE!!!

I'm happy to introduce to you...Ms. AmyPanda!!!! Amypanda is an EtsyOwl. I love visiting her shop because it makes me smile. Her pictures are so hilarious. She has these adorable little stuffie badges and then in her pics she has these little people next to them! They are so funny! I love them. They look like some crazy art you would find in an offthewall gallery.

Let's Find a Cure- Breast Cancer Awareness - Handmade Beaded Necklace

This handmade necklace represents those women who have survived or are fighting breast cancer. These women are amazing and deserve to be recognized as strong powerful women. The 100% of the proceeds from this sale will go directly to the Breast Care Foundation. Every cent of this order will go to help find a cure.

This necklace is 21 inches long. The pendant has Rosie the Riveter standing proud with the words "I Survived" at the top, and "Never Give Up" at the bottom. By wearing this necklace you are not only donating funds, but are raising awareness for the disease. Let's work together to help find a cure. The length of this necklace can be changed upon request. The pendant is a full color plastic pendant. The pendant has a clear protective coating over it.

If anyone really knows me well they know I DO NOT have a green thumb! My whole life I have tried growing beautiful flowers, but they always died within a few days. This past spring my mother-in-law took me under her wing and showed me all the planting secrets. She helped me redo my flower beds at my old house (I was selling at the time). So, after her lesson I felt confident to try again, so last weekend I attempted to plant my very own flower bed (at my new house).

To my surprise I awoke this morning with a wonderful surprise. One of my lilies actually bloomed! I was am so excited, so of course I ran right out to take a picture!!!!

And the lily wasn't the only one, another one of my plants actually bloomed too!!!!

What a great day! All of my plants survived and some bloomed!!! I feel so accomplished!

Kaboogie Shows Us Her Booth

Given I have been writing about craft show booths Kaboogie (a wonderful seller on Etsy) was kind enough to send in some of her pictures. Even though she has only done 2 craft shows her booth looks fab! I believe Kaboogie can teach us all a lot on how to make your booth really shine, and how best to feature Boogie shoes and Mocs.

How Do You Find the Right Display?

Sorry that I did not get to post much today. Surprisingly, I was able to do a farmers market. I did not think I would get my displays on time, but alas they made it! So I had only 2 hours to get ready for the event! I finished right on schedule.

This is another post for a newbie craft fair crafter. Most people have no idea how to display their items. You can spend a lot of money or you can spend a little. The more money you spend the more creative you can make your displays, but I have found that by the time you have purchased everything you need for just one show you have spent a TON. I like to get my jewelry displays from JewelrySupply.com. They have affordable acrylic or metal rotating stands. My favorite is the Revolving Earring Rack (48prs).

It is tall and skinny, and I think allows you to display just enough pieces. I for one do not like the displays that hold a million earrings. I think its too much for the eye to take in all at once. If you get the taller skinnier displays you will be able to organize like items or prices more easily.

However, if you need a more crafty approach handmade artisans on Etsy have some really great alternatives. Here is one of my favorites.

Are you Selling Jewelry?

haha you would think I wouldn't want to help my fellow jewelry designers, but hey thats what I do.

If you are selling jewelry you will want to keep things like this next template in mind. I have found it much easier to carry a standard metal and type of ear hook, then offer changes for free or for a small charge. I have found you get to help out many different types of customers, and you don't hear well if only that was in gold. Here is a simple template that you might want to keep in mind when selling earrings. However, if your designs are extravagant and it would take you a very long time to make these changes you may not want to do something like this. But, you can always think about just switching out just the ear hook as well.

The first document is a new thing I am trying out at farmers market. I have long found out that printing off prices and attaching them directly to my earrings, necklaces, and bracelets that once you stick them on there they are SUPER hard to remove. So now I'm trying a new idea. I have created a few price sheets. The price sheets have my list of prices with a corresponding sticker that tells you what price an item is. I am using colorful stars. I think they are alot of fun for me and the customer. Plus, if they buy my crafts as a gift they can leave the star on there and the receiver will have no idea how much the item costs. Here is the download for the price sheet. You can download the word version (editable), or the pdf version (non editable). I will also attach pictures of my final product. But, the first step is to download the sheet, type in your prices, and print!

The second step is to pick out some crazy cool scrapbooking paper.

The third step is to use glue, or tape to attach your printed out list to your scrapbooking paper, stick on your stickers, and then laminate. You can take it to an office supply store, or just buy the self-laminating papers (that is what I did). It was super easy. Here is a picture of my finished product.

Don't forget to attach the stickers to your product!!!

This Summer Charm bracelet is made out of sterling silver. Every single part of this bracelet is sterling, except the charms (they are pewter). The beads are a summery mixture of glass, cat eye beads, and swavoski crystals. This bracelet is adjustable to fit anyone. The matching earrings are sterling as well.
